    Sleep Timer crashes with "NTVDM CPU" error

    I guess your Sleep Timer counts as 3rd party sw, Jeff. :-) I see no forum specific to it anyway, so I'll post here.

    I downloaded Sleep Timer from here and from the downloads section on GreenButton. After install, if I try to start it from the START menu in XP MCE, it starts a 10' UI and I can set it. If, however I try to start it from the "More Programs" menu, I get this message in the ehome shell:

    <ERROR>
    Media Center was unable to load the page c:\Windows\Installer\{53ef7d4d-374d-4e39-9859-5504a5352bd7}\294823.exe. the program or web site cannot be found. Ensure that the program is on the computer, or that you have a working Internet connection.
    </ERROR>

    If I then close MCE I see a DOS prompt on my XP desktop and this error:

    <ERROR>
    ---------------------------
    16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem
    ---------------------------
    C:\WINDOWS\INSTAL~1\{53EF7~1\_294823.exe
    The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction.
    CS:0db2 IP:017b OP:ff ff 00 ff 00 Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.
    ---------------------------
    Close   Ignore
    ---------------------------
    </ERROR>

    I've removed/reinstalled a few times, but no joy. There is a second user now on the GB thread I started who is having the same issue, so I don't think it's isolated to my hardware (I have this failure on both my MCE 2005 boxes, BTW). Here's the thread on TGB.

    Any hints?
    UN

    I have been meaning to update the installer or quite some time. I think the problem you are having stems from the fact that I originally wrote this for MCE 2002 which used a different system to open files from the more programs menu. Anyway I have updated the installer so it should now work. The new file is in the downloads section of this site under the same name as the old file.
